life has been very interesting as of late, as if soft explosions have been ripping through my bearings and beliefs and letting me rise up into the stratosphere of being.
the party i threw last weekend was a success. everything went off without a hitch and i thought i played an excellent set that was very well-received. at the end of the night, when we wanted to shut it down, people were begging us not to stop the music. some of us have to sleep . . . sometimes
i got to go over to the East Bay to have our new 12" mastered. we went to this guy George Horn, who's mastered everyone from Aerosmith to Santana to MC Hammer to the master himself --- Too $hort ("yo' head, yo' back, yo' pussy and yo' crack" ---- muthafuckin' poetry!) it was cool sitting in this guy's studio that had a very swinging 70's feel to it, lots of wood and stone inlays, like Hugh Hefner was going to walk in at any moment and offer us some Cognac. it was a lot of fun watching Mr. Horn squint through his thick-lensed glasses as he twiddled knobs and scurried about the room like a mole, until the soft purr of the cutter put our music on to vinyl. so now we're just waiting to get the promos for our third release to take down to Miami next month.
Krishnamurti says that all life is relationship. i have a friend, who is in India studying Sanskrit put an addendum on that, saying not only is it your relationship with others, but also the relationship you have with your self and your thoughts. my relationships as of late have been really amazing, and only seem to be getting richer and fuller. things have been rather grand and debaucherous in this new year. so much so that i can only laugh and enjoy it and look forward to the joy and madness that lie ahead.
