I'm Baaack!
I just flew back in town last night and the mountains were spectacular! I will post pictures soon of everything. Tomorrow I will be taking my kayaks out although I won't be going to the coast as originally planned because I wound up being more wiped out from hiking Whitney than anticipated. Twenty-two miles was a hell of a hike and we did it in a day. I didn't think I had it in me and I am so proud of my boyfriend's parents and uncle for completing the hike at 45, 55, and 59 years of age, they sure proved that age ain't no thang. For those of you uncertain of what Whitney is all about, it is the highest mountain trail in the United States topping out at 14,504 ft.
Before the Whitney hike we did a series of numerous other hikes in order to become acclimated to the elevation. These hikes we did in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park where we saw the world's largest tree (by volume) the General Sherman Sequoia tree. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park. These trees range from 2,000-2,300 years old.
On another note, While in LA on Friday I went to go see District 9 and for those of you who have not yet seen it, i highly recommend it. It exceeded my expectations and addresses political issues as well as emphasizing the dark side of human nature.
I suppose i will sign out for now, I must now go off to pick up my books for my classes since school starts up again this week and then I am off for some "Metal Series" yoga at Sunstone.
Much love!
This is an update. Here are the pictures!!!
