Ok you know what? I am going to talk a bit Chris Cornell. But first, I'm going to talk about the day I heard on MTV when Kurt Cobain died. Actually, it happened so long ago, I don't remember much, but other than being in a state of brief confusion and people making fun of me because he killed himself. As if to say, hey you should kill yourself too that's what we think of you. The thing is, with his passing, my love and admiration and the amount of influence Nirvana's music had on my only continued to grow.....to the point where I actually believe that their music is physically a part of me. I mean I can name you any song of theirs just by listening to two seconds of the song.
I can say the exact same for Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Chris Cornell's solo music. Whats different though about Chris is that today, I have a far greater understanding about what depression and addiction are and how they affect people. In regards to Chris's suicide, I think it's way to early yet to jump to any conclusions, but it sounds like it was more unintentional than something that he had been planning for a while, although not many of us will ever know what was going through his head during his final days. That being said, something was just really weird about this whole thing. I mean, for me, Chris is a success story on how people can overcome this disease, and I guaranfuckingtee you that his music, his voice will always be an inspiration to those of us suffering from these things. But hearing those words, "He committed suicide,"..............I dunno, it's just so frightening.
I dunno, I'm still sorting this out. Here's what I can say with absolute certainty:
These are two perfermances, done in the 'unplugged' fashion. These two individuals lived and breathed music, and you will always be able to listen and feel their passion in these recordings.
