I've always known of Alice In Chains. Dirt is one of my favorite albums ever! But their first album, Facelift, I'm not familiar with except for Man In The Box. I came across this video today,
and I was speechless. Speechless, not only because this is a very haunting and awesome song, but speechless because....Layne, what the fuck man!!!!!!????????????????????????????????????????????? The first thought that always comes first in my head when I hear the name Layne Staley is isolation. This guy's habits during the last years of his life were almost an exact replica of mine. People not hearing from him for weeks. Being alone and getting your fix. The art and passion that this guy wore on his sleeve is very much underappreciated in my opinion. I saw this video followed by this one:
I'm listening to this and all of a sudden I have a heavy heart. Frustration, anger, empathy...all these feelings at once. I wish......... fuck...FUCK.......F U C K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He doesn't keep secrets from us regarding what it is he wants to share in his lyrics. Did I also mention that he has a phenomenal voice? Goddammit Layne, why? W H Y??????????
Ok, next thing I saw was this:
I have never heard of a 'whamola' until this....leave it to Les to actually use it in his concerts. I swear, I don't think Les Claypool has any limits when it comes to music, which is what makes him so genius! I wish the world was full of nothing but Les Claypools...it would be chaos, except we'd all be laughing at each other.
