I have to say – and I know this is going to sound immodest – but I really did kind of do pretty well this week.
I don’t think I know of any other single guy holding down a house (and if I’m missing someone, please let me know), and in addition, someone who’s still doing ok in maintaining some kind of creative output.
Case in point, I just randomly heard my most recent musical opus last night – tentatively titled “Blood Play” – and it actually sounds alright.
The percussion seems live and acoustic – as opposed to sampled and sequenced, as it is – and the various movements within the piece are well-orchestrated.
There is a bridge that makes use of an extended vocal sample, which I think may be a cliché of mine at this point, but I think it’s an intriguing one, and also pretty untraceable. (By that, I mean I dare someone to be able to name the source.)
Next step is to create a new website for Serpent Worship. The most recent site I did was back at the end of 2011, and it looks like shit on mobile devices, so I kind of need to start over.
I don’t consider myself the kind of guy who needs an audience. (Case in point: I’ll just keep posting regardless of the absence of comments.) But I have to admit that the idea of hearing what others think of my creative output is intriguing.
Anyway, good night San Diego. Rå and I are going to go down to Lestat’s and get a late-night decaf. And I’m going to spend the rest of the evening telling him how much I love him.
