annex five <> TONIGHT, I LOVE YOU..
I suppose I should explain myself about the other day. I mean, with the swastika-as-crucifix thing.
First, the swastika is a very old symbol, pre-dating the Nazis use of it by a few thousand years. I realize that the Nazis caused the symbol to mean racial intolerance now in modern times, but that is not at all what I attempted to convey. I try to be race-blind, in that I never find myself prejudiced toward someone based on their culture. I mean, were all biased to some degree, but I do everything I can to keep my bias to a negligible level.
What I truly think is that different cultures are beautiful, and I find myself far more interested in them than my own. (For the record, I think my main heritage is Finnish.) I am continually inspired by the civil rights movement and it has often brought me to passionate tears in the past.
So, ok, obviously if the image wasnt about race, then it was about religion, yes?
Yes. Not too big on the Christ thing. I personally think Christ was a scheming loon whose charming ways brought a small, but dedicated flock under his wing. And they all started this Jewish cult called Christianity, which unfortunately lingers to this day.
But I dont just not like Christianity. I dont have a fondness for any organized religion, and thats what I was trying to say through the image. That Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, etc. are akin to Nazism in the way that they breed intolerance of others and a mindless adherence to a rigid set of beliefs. Judaism might be the least guilty of the four, but theres still orthodox Jewry. That particular groups view of women seems to me like stone-age stuff, really terrible.
Thing is, I love people. I really do. But I really dislike particularly intolerant people and stupid people. Thems I dont like so much.
So lets just all be one tonight while Im having some drinks at the Whistlestop here in San Diego (maybe) with my best friend in the world, eh?
