XVII. WE LIVE ON FEAR
[ Now playing on the Severe Trauma Sounds... Cannibal Song by Ministry from The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste ]
"You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul, and torched my conscience. You thought it was one pathetic boy's life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and defenseless people.
Do you know what it feels to be spit on your face and to have trash shoved down your throat? Do you know what it feels like to dig your own grave? Do you know what it feels like to have your throat slashed from ear to ear? Do you know what it feels like to be torched alive? Do you know what it feels like to be humiliated and be impaled upon on a cross? And left to bleed to death for your amusement?
You have never felt a single ounce of pain your whole life. Did you want to inject as much misery in our lives as you can just because you can?
I didn't have to do this. I could have left. I could have fled. But no, I will no longer run. It's not for me. For my children, for my brothers and sisters that you fucked; I did it for them... When the time came, I did it. I had to...
You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today, but you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off.
You had everything you wanted.
Your Mercedes wasn't enough, you brats.
Your golden necklaces weren't enough, you snobs.
Your trust fund wasn't enough.
Your Vodka and Cognac weren't enough.
All your debaucheries weren't enough.
Those weren't enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs.
You had everything."
-- Seung-Hui Cho, lone perpetrator of the April 16, 2007 Virginia Tech Massacre, "the deadliest peacetime shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history, on or off a school campus", during which thirty-three persons lost their lives, and twenty-five more were injured.
"I'm in love with a malicious intent.
You've been taken but you don't know it yet.
A truer love has never been found;
And I see the sunset through the eyes of a cloud."
-- N. W. O. by Ministry from Psalm 69 (lyrics by Al Jourgensen)
"I am not innocent.
You are not innocent.
(They are not innocent.)
No one is innocent."
-- Intolerance by Tool from Undertow (lyrics by Maynard Keenan)
Ha ha! Creepy, right? Yeah, especially the Cho quote. No worries though, I'm not about to do something drastic. I just dig that dark, gloomy shit. It's what feeds my soul.
And I love my two cats with all my black heart. I suppose I don't write that enough, though lord knows I personally tell them so with adequate frequency. But yeah, they're truly my favorite darling beasties on the planet.
Anyway, I still have my good job, so that's nice. I have to admit that I was wondering a little about that on Wednesday. Shit really kind of went down that day, though it seems the meter is already back to the "we're good" range.
I'm in the middle of watching Angel Heart. Well, not right now, but I saw about forty five minutes of it last night, and I was definitely impressed. Plus, it's a trip to see an "unmolested" Mickey Rourke, back when he was a pretty boy, and before all the street fighting, drugs, and hepatitis. (Just kidding. I don't think Mick ever had hepatitis, though somehow I wouldn't put it past him.)
But I guess the real reason I'm watching it is because I was inspired to see it after finding out that Ogre (of Skinny Puppy) had lifted some choice footage from the movie while compiling his self-made Too Dark Park tour films. Check out the one in which he used the Angel Heart scenes - a bit of an easy listening little track called Convulsion.
