II. THE BROTHERHOOD OF DEATH
[ Now playing on the Severe Trauma Sounds... Face Omelet by Master Shake & Nashville Pussy from Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters Colon The Soundtrack ]
I've been on this site since July of 2002, but only in mid-2004 did I really start posting these journal updates with any regularity. And even then, my consistency has been rather spotty. But now I do, indeed, intend to change all that with more dedication than ever.
I don't really do the Facebook thing because I think it's just a little public for me. Currently, I'm only writing regularly on this site, but I plan to also start posting on my music MySpace, personal site, and maybe one or two other places. For now, though, it's just here, and I think that's because it's less public, but just as importantly, I feel much more at home here with like-minded acquaintances and friends.
Anyway, it was a pretty decent start to the year's darker half today, and though I could go on about the nature of my work and those routine sort of things, I don't think I'll be doing that too often. I'd much prefer to expound theories, philosophize and just generally explore what's going on in my head.
Suffice to say, Druids were what was going on in my head this morning, probably because of what I was writing last night. I read today in Wikipedia that "not one single artifact or image has been unearthed that can undoubtedly be connected with the ancient Druids." Hence, we don't truly know whether they actually existed, but there is plenty of circumstantial evidence to lend major credence to posit that they did.
I have to say that I love the word "Druid" itself. I think it's very clever, and rolls off the tongue with eloquence. I also really appreciate the mystery in which they're shrouded, and the lingering accounts of their "unmentionable" practice of human sacrifice. All that creepy stuff gets under my skin very pleasantly.
Not feeling much like leaving on a creepy note tonight, however. I'd rather point out a great example of what I witnessed Saturday night at San Diego's legendary 4th & B venue. This is Underworld performing Always Loved A Film from their new album Barking live on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. And I haven't been able to get enough of it lately.
