Marijuana and herion are both schedule I narcotics. Methaphetamine is a schedule III and Xanax is a schedule IV. This is funny to me. Schedule I narcotics are those with no medicinal properties and are the most highly addictive drugs. Um, yeah. Go Attorney General. The AG sets the schedules for each level of narcotic.
Something else that I find funny, federal drug sentencing guidelines are based on the weight of the drug you are carrying. It doesn't matter how much the particular controlled substance is cut with something else. The complete weight is what your charge (and probable subsequent indictment) is based on.
If you are street dealer, your drugs are cut with a lot of crap, they weigh a lot more. If you are carrying around pure cocaine, heroin, etc. your drugs weigh a lot less. Extreme case in point, pure LSD weighs a lot less than acid on tabs. So if you are carrying around 1000 hits of acid, you go to jail for a lot longer than you do if you are carrying around enough LSD to make 10,000 hits of acid. And yet the federal drug policy is supposed to target high level importers and dealers.
Don't even get me started on the racism inherent in mandatory minimums for crack.
In case you hadn't guessed, we're doing the drug unit in federal criminal law.

I have no idea what they use PCP for. I can think of better anathestics.
I don't want to talk about Herion being a schedule I when it does have a medical use, the same as Morphine and . . . methadone (though methadone is only used in treating heroin addict, as far as I know, cause it too has a huge potential for abuse).
We know the system is fucked . . . *shrugs shoulders*
I knew another kid who was awsome, awsome, cool. A ray of light really...he was set up in some deal selling weed to someone...he was shot and killed by a thug punk.
Both cases involved the person being convinced to sell in a manner that they normally wouldn't.
I prefer to keep my nose clean...never had any desire to sell drugs...too risky.
ya.
