Hello my lovelies, how are you? It's been a while since my last blog because I suppose I'm not the best person writing. But today, I felt like talking about some of my feelings and about my last set; they're deeply connected.
I have a new set in member review called YOU HAVE ALL THE WEAPONS YOU NEED. NOW FIGHT! inspired by a movie called Sucker Punch and the main character, Baby Doll. I have loved this movie ever since I watched it for the first time because it's really symbolical and all about psychology and the domain we have on our own lives. Finding your inner strenght, no matter what's happening. Knowing you have the keys and the weapons to fight whatever you're going through. That you are strong.
I always try to cosplay characters that have something to do with me. When I cosplay Khaleesi aka Daenerys Targaryen, it's mostly because I see myself in her in lots of personality traits and I admire how her character is human. I try to portray women I think that are strong and that I connect with. When cosplaying Baby Doll, it wasn't much about relating to her personality (I did also) but it was more about relating to finding my inner strenght and fighting for myself. It was more about relating to her fight, the one that goes on inside her mind.
When I decided to do that cosplay, I was in a bad place emotionally. Felt like the victim of my own life, somehow helpless. And then I decided to watch this movie again and I thought: I don't have to be the victim. I can be the warrior. I can fight for myself. I have all the weapons I need to do that.
And then, suddently it felt catarthic to portray her. Doing this photoset actually helped me to gather my inner force. To feel like her for a while, to role play. And it did help. Amazingly, everything went well: I found an amazing location, @kalincamaki who's my favourite photographer to work with (because besides being talented and amazing, she's a great friend) was up to do this with me, and I had the help of @alyssa to lend me the outfit (which I'm craving to have to myself, since this situation was so important to me). I was really happy with the results because I thought about everything, researched a lot and wanted it to be as close as I could get to the real thing.
Anyway, that's all a way of saying how much I enjoy doing this photosets, because it's more than just doing a photoshoot, for me. It's actually healing. It heals me, makes me see things from a new perspective. Makes me see myself in a new perspective. And I'm really grateful that Suicide Girls actually give us the opportunity of working with cosplays also. I'm grateful for the freedom of doing something that goes beyond the 'final product', that are the photos. Something that warms my soul.
So, since I'm blogging and it's somehow a 'thank you', I gotta mention @rambo and @missy <3
And anyway, for those who still didn't see it, check it out and give me some love if you actually enjoy the work :) (or even tips! lol tips helps us artists and model to create more content, so it's always good to be supported by people who believe in our work. but hey, NO PRESSURE lol :) )
YOU HAVE ALL THE WEAPONS YOU NEED, NOW FIGHT! is HERE for those who didn't see it yet :) hope you'll enjoy it because it meant a lot to me :)
