Hey yall!
First, I'd like to say I'm sorry I disappeared for a few weeks. Life has been crazy, I'm doing lots of photoshoots and side jobs, I worked as a costume designer for a short movie and I've been taking care of my personal life. I really miss being active around here, but my mind has been so messy that it has been a bit hard. But NOW I'M BACK!
Now to the homework that @missy @rambo @lyxzen gave us this week.
I HAD to get this one done since I love horror movies so much.
I just love everything creepy, scary, weird, fucked up and mysterious in life.
It's ultra hard to scare me, so I'm not usually drawn by movies that really scare me (because that basically never happens); what makes me love horror movies is usually the atmosphere.
First of all, I love horror movies from the 80's. There's something about the colorful lights and the killers with masks that makes my world a better place. I'm also crazy about the classics: Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Fog, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday 13th, Sleepaway Camp, Day of the Dead, Rosemary's Baby, Evil Dead, The Shining, Blair Witch Project, As Above So Below, and I could spend a whooooole day listing movies; horror is definitely my favourite genre, so it's hard for me to chose.
But I mean, if I really had to chose one:
NIGHT OF THE COMET {1984}
Not really well known, Night of the Comet is a movie about two girls that find themselves in a world where a metheore crashed and killed most of the human life in the world. The very few that survived are rarely entirely humans; most of them, are weird zombies.
It's cool, it's visually pretty, it's interesting, it has the charming 80's look that I'm so in love with and mostly it has GIRL POWER. I'm crazy about strong, sassy and bad ass female characters and this movie's got two of them.
Everyone should what this one, FOSHO
And okay, not really a MOVIE, but I have to bring this along.
My favourite 'horror' series:
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER {1997-2003}
Okay, that's my FAVOURITE series ever. Some people might think it's cheesy, but thats probably because they've never watched it.
So, Joss Whedon is basically a genious. Buffy the vampire slayer is so clever and it has the best characters I've ever seen in a tv series. They're all interesting and complement each other and the character development is incredibly believable {even if the topics treated in the series are surreal). Besides, GIRL POWER. Buffy is a bad ass strong character who would usually seem like the victim in other horror related stuff (blonde, a bit shallow, seems fragile) and she's actually the hunter instead of being hunted; along with her, other female chacters shine, like Willow, the witch, for example, who was also part of the first lesbian couple in a tv show (milestones).
Buffy was one of the first contemporary tv series related to horror (not counting Twilight Zone, The Munsters, Addams Family {I love all of them, btw}) and shaped supernatural series as we know it. It's amazing. It's scary and creepy sometimes, it's funny, it's dramatic. It's DEFINITELLY worth watching. I love it too much and it basically shaped who I am today, since the first time I watched it I was like 12. {Btw, my sassy sense of humor and rolling eyes all the time = thanks, Buffy}
Fun fact about me: until I watched Buffy, I was scared of EVERYTHING. I was the kind of kid that would hide in a closet in halloween nights, afraid of the kids trick or treating; I could never watch horror movie trailer without freaking out for days. Buffy is so important to me because it made me brave. If I'm not afraid of anything I watch these days, it is thanks to Buffy, and that's why this series is so important to me. After I first watched it, I wanted to be Buffy. I wanted to be brave, I wanted to be bad ass. I even had a wooden stake, okay? I was serious about it.
And I even have a Buffy tattoo:
Anyway, I know I wrote forever, but please understand; it's a subject I'm to passionate about <3
Hope you guys liked it!
