Oooh weeee, thanks guys for all the b-day singing. It wasn't accompanied by a trombone, but it was still really nice. *clap! clap!*
This week I basically wanted to slit my wrists at work...okay...normally working on the beer cart on the course is fun, but when the temperature drops from shorts weather last Thursday to fuckin' snowpants and rain on Friday, things get a little pooey for the Sar Bear. I was on the cart making no money for five days straight (no one needs beer or even WATER when it is cold out...but yes they need their stupid coffee...which is one huge pain in the ass to make because I'm expected to procure double-doubles for these big baby men...what you can't make your own coffee? what, I put too much cream in it? well do it yourself, jerk! and not to mention each coffee I make puts a whopping eleven cents in my own pocket...unless it's cash and then I grow devil horns and just don't ring it in). Ewww I hated it. One of the girls who works in the pro shop had a comforter in her car so here I am driving around a golf course in 4 layers and a fuckin' duvet...
I think the only high point was when one guy saw me and he loudly squawked "Are you COLD or somethin'?" to which I of course replied, "Yeah, it's freeeeeezing out here!" and he goes "Aww, the little 20-year old's cold!" to his friends...obnoxious moron yes...but 20? Ha! I turned 26 two days later...there are advantages to not baking in the sun or smoking cigs!
Oh and last night I was bartending inside (inside! finally a warm shift!) and these two guys were there asking me about good drinks to make, and I mentioned that it had been my birfday the day before and Jeff made some sick gin sauce...and they're like oh you turned 19? I'm like "PFFFFT! NO!" and they kept guessing upwards starting at 20...that part was cool too.
See, I'm having trouble dealing with being 26...just because I think by now I should have a "real job" or at least move out of my mom's house again...also because most of my friends are younger than I am...I dunno, it's just weird. I don't feel like I'm 26 at all. So I'm happy that people seem to think I'm 20. Oddly enough when I WAS 20, I was director of operations at a firm downtown Toronto and had an apartment...how backwards is my life?
Anyway here's a step in the right direction: on Wednesday I went in for an AutoCAD test at prolly the best interior design firm in Toronto...I met their rep at the design show I volunteered at a couple weeks ago...and yeah they called me back and brought me in...10 people were "auditioning" for a volunteer spot at this company and yesterday they called to say the "job" was mine! I jumped and shrieked and scared my one remaining dog. So yay! I will be pseudo-working for this super awesome amazing company every Monday starting on the 24th of October...they have paired me with one of the senior designers and I get to be his assistant and attend meetings and go shopping, etc...best news is they are hiring a new junior designer in like a month, so if I do really well I may be in the running for that, too. Which would basically set me for life in the industry because it just doesn't get any better than this company...it's like, the interior design equivalent of Apple.
*Segue* With my birthday money I'm gon' get me one of dem fancy new video iPods! I miss mine tooooo much and really, 30 GB for $399 CDN when the photo one was 20 GB for $379 is just too good to pass up.
I've also been eBaying up a storm this week. I am obsessed...good thing my parents don't ever know what to get me so I just get a bunch of cheques at every occasion! Yippee!
And because I don't want you friendly people to have read this entire novel-length entry for naught, I will provide some lovely pictures. 'Cos books without pictures are pooey!
Clearly, that was a bad angle because it made me look like a rabbit-toothed freak...disregard..I just wanted you to see the cake I made, okay?
Moving on...
Mike and Jen on the kitchen floor with the dawgs.
Prolly the last picture ever of Bailey...but it's a good one.
Chance got scurred of all the noise, so she hopped on the couch with me, Mike and Jeff. She's cuuute.
Aight that's all I've got, I don't know if my absent bro got any good pictures on his camera...if I get them before I leave SG, I will post them for your delight and entertainment.
Off to the gym to work my squishy ass down to a size suitable for my new Rock and Republics (yay birthday!). BYE.
xoxo
