Hope all you people had a happy new year. Mine was one of the raddest ever, thanks for asking
The past 6, 7 weeks Ive been bound in what Im gonna call "creativity shackles"
Because of thanksgiving, xmas, new years, vegas vacations, work, social obligations and conflicting schedules, I havent been able to shoot any of the floods of photography ideas Ive been getting. So, in lieu of, Ive written them down, and started buying props, test shooting, and getting some new gear. Hopefully, I'll have a good group of non-flaky, attractive models to complete the visions I have laid out in my mind.
Also, Ive been wanting to get my music back on track. (Dont you love a pathetic pun from time to time?)
Lately I have been listening to a lot of abstract, electronic music, and industrial music for the inspiration, But tonight, I decided to listen to some death metal, which Ive missed. Its nice to turn the metal up to just below my auditory pain tolerance and listen to the insanity and morbid lyrics. Kinda felt like I was in one of those terrorist prisons where they play metal music really loud for hours & hours. haha
Then I remembered a recording I did about 5 years ago. I was doing a lot of acid back then and I was trying to make a song that would help in creating a bad trip. Yeah, I know...I think outside the box. haha, anyways this song was melancholy keyboards, organs and synthesizers. and instead of percussion instruments, I did a field recording of me smashing trash cans, dumpsters & various glass objects in an alley, with a baseball bat. Then I took annoying trombone and trumpet sounds, reversed them and took all of the tracks and layered them together.
And tonight, it hit me. Wouldnt it be cool if I could write music like this so that they could use it in terrorist prisons?!?! I wonder how I could go about getting a gig like that? And to those out there that think that this is a form of torture and that it is morally wrong...You might be right, but where was the public outcry when Yanni, Kenny G, John Tesh, Dave Matthews Band, Grateful Dead and other crap artists released their albums to the public. Who stopped these atrocities? Nobody. So leave me alone if I wanna get paid to make some really annoying music for some bad guys to claw their ears out to. Besides, anybody that has worked retail, knows about the hours on end, day after day torture of christmas music that gets played around the holidays. If we can handle it, so can a terrorist. At least they dont have to deal with bitchy holiday shoppers and their snot nosed kids.
Plus, if some taliban warlord told me my music was shitty, my feelings wouldnt be hurt
