Ok it's been a couple weeks since I've written anything interesting. Not much but music and work, which is for the most part what my life is. We finished up day 4 in the studio today and we're still not done with this damn demo haha. We can say that all tracks have been completed for the first song. We finally got to doing vocals today and finished up the first song within a couple hours. Half of the vocals are done for the second song. Anthony was getting a bit frustrated, which is also why we just decided to come back another day, because he wasn't getting a melody right during the first chorus of the song. So he just needs to finish up the second song, and then the final song, which is our most epic song. I haven't even heard the third song yet with all the instruments down, but what I did get to hear I was blown away by. I first heard the song last October Phosgene Factor (former band name). I clicked on an ad someone (Anthony) posted looking to reform their band. I checked out the link and the first song title that caught my eye was A Place To Call Home (current band name), so I clicked on it. The intro just made me say, ok where is this going to go, and then the drums came in with a fill followed by a simple, yet crunching guitar chord progression. As soon as I heard it I immediately had ideas fly through my head for a guitar solo. What made me say that this was it was the opening line in the verse. "Everytime I look at your eyes, I feel the frigidness envelope my soul." I responded to Anthony's post right away and even told him in the response that this song has EXTREME potential. And now almost one whole year later the song sounds completely different. With so many intricite parts it could almost be a classical piece in a sense, yet it still keeps the same basic idea heard in the old recording. I could go on and on about the journey this song has gone through, but I'll wait until we're on VH1's Behind The Music (haha if only it was that simple ey?).
Anyways that's about it. These always seem to be longer than I expect because I go off on some tangent. Hope everyone is doing well and for those of you who go into the chat daily I shall see you there! Take care!
:-)
*Edit* I just found out that Steve Irwin died
This guy was so awesome I still can't believe he died. Mr. Steve Irwin you will be forever missed and will always be remembered. At least you left us doing what you loved the most. RIP Steve!
