Normally, my time away from the site is accidental, I just get caught up in life and work an everything in between. The previous break falls in the same vein, but on a more serious note. In November, my mother lost one of her jobs, her main one of the two she had. As a result, I had to step up how much I brought in to our living situation, which isn't bad at all, I just had to kick things into high gear with both of my jobs. It meant me doing everything I could to bring in money and make sure we could live comfortably.
But life seemed to have another plan. In December, a couple of days after Christmas, to be exact, I lost both of my jobs. Now, I'm not here to weave some sob story, I'm just letting the few that actually read these know what's going on in my life. It's been a harder trek than I thought, even though I knew it would be hard anyway. We've managed to get by, but things are getting tighter as the days go on. I've applied to several positions I've been recommended by friends/former coworkers, and I have an interview tomorrow with a staffing agency that may be able to help me find a good place to start piecing things back together. Hopefully I'll be able to do my taxes fairly soon so that I have at least something more coming in. We've struggled before, so this is nothing new, but it's still just as shitty as it's ever been.
No need to worry, though. We're keeping our spirits high. My mother's been crafting up a storm (she makes doll clothes, aprons, pillows, etc), and I've been writing almost everyday with all the new found free time I have, when I'm not looking for a job, of course.
If you want to help at all (I"m not trying to beg, just throwing it out there), I do still make money whenever my music is bought off my Bandcamp, iTunes, Google Play, etc, or when it's streamed on Spotify. Just search under "Selectah!" and you'll find it. Every little bit counts, right?
Thanks for reading, and take care. Hopefully I'll be bringing in some good news soon.
