The show last night was unbelievably great. I'm so happy that I finally got to see Between The Buried And Me live. I'm also extremely glad that I got to see the other two bands on tour with them, Tesseract and Animals As Leaders. I'd not really heard Tesseract's music before, but I was very impressed. I'll definitely be purchasing their CD's soon enough. Animals As Leaders is one of my favorite bands as well, so it was really exciting to get to see them for the first time too. Sadly, their set had to be cut short because of a bunch of technical problems (nothing being their fault, of course) but it was still amazing. They're such incredible musicians. Then, of course, Between The Buried And Me hit the stage and I instantly got lost in the music, shouting/singing along to every song. They opened up with Mirrors, leading into Obfuscation, which was incredible. I'm not going to go through every song they played, but their set list was awesome. At one point, they played a medley of a bunch of their older songs, including Alaska, All Bodies, Shevanel Cut A Flip, Destructo Spin, and more. It was so crazy, and they pulled it off so well. And they closed with Viridian, leading into White Walls, which in my mind is the only good way to end a Between The Buried And Me set, save for their encore. For the encore, they played Mordecai (one of my favorite older songs.)
After the show ended, I ended up getting to meet both Dan (the bassist) and Dustie (one of the guitarists) from BTBAM, and I couldn't have been happier or more starstruck. I've literally never not known what to say to a band member, which I think comes from being in a couple bands and playing shows with several bands in the past, but last night I was just almost frozen in awe.
Oh! Another little tidbit: Chris Adler, the drummer of Lamb Of God, was one of the people doing sound during the show, which was really cool to see.
The only real negative aspect of the entire night was me realizing over the course of the night how much I really despise hardcore dancing and pit dancers and guys who are just way too aggro during shows. Like, I remember at one point just getting immensely pissed off at how many stupid meatheads were just practically attacking other people in the crowd. Like, I understand "if you don't like it, don't go to shows or don't stay on the dance floor" but seriously? Why should I have to sacrifice my good time and my enjoyment of one of my all time favorite bands because a bunch of neanderthals feel the need to beat the shit out of everyone they see, for no fucking reason? It's just stupid.
Nevertheless, I had a great time. And I got a shirt! Sadly, no pictures or autographs, but I'm content with just being in the same ten foot radius of the guys.
Now, on to another topic. I've been doing some thinking (since before I actually joined this site) and I'd actually love to be a photographer for SG, staff or otherwise. Now, I'm not really advertising my services, because I don't even have a new camera yet. However, in high school I took classes on photography, and it's always been a vested interest of mine. I've done one or two projects since high school (that sadly have since been lost due to human and computer error) that I thought were pretty great, and I think that after a little bit of practice (at least I think that's the right word) or a re-honing of my skills, I could really accomplish some pretty good sets. I also gained some experience with Photoshop and whatnot, so who knows? Maybe in the future.
I do really enjoy being on this site, but I feel like I over think things about it a lot. For instance, I try to keep a steady blog, and comment in groups, on sets, or other members' profiles just so people know I'm actually here to make friends. Like I said in one of my earlier blogs, I'm not here to just creep on chicks all day. Something I also think I definitely over think is the possibility of someone thinking I'm a "collector" which I'm trying not to be. I've made a couple of friends already, both male and female (and even one couple!) and I feel like I'll be alright as far as that goes, but I don't really know yet.
And just like that, my mind's gone blank. I think I'll end this blog. I'll be sure to update a bit in the next few weeks, but I can't really guarantee much, because of the move. By the way, the move is a sure thing. In January, I'll be living closer to my job and a lot happier.
Thanks for reading!

Just hang out and do your thing. Don't over-think it and just have fun. That's what this site is all about! We'll be seeing you around!

Thanks! Yeah I'm looking forward to getting the exam over and done with, then I can mooch around and be lazy for 3 1/2 months (seriously, anyone who ever complains about being a student doesn't know what the real world has in store for them)
