A little about my life as a musician.
I started playing percussion in the sixth grade, for the school band. As a part of that, I learned how to play xylophones and marimbas, which led me to attempt learning to play the piano (still a work in progress.) Around the time I was in the tenth grade, I began learning how to play guitar, mostly bass. I started learning to sing and scream in the tenth grade as well, although screaming hasn't survived as long as singing has. For a long time I've had a valid interest in techno and trance music, which led me into DJing and attempting to produce music as well. I also love messing around with and playing on synthesizers and all sorts of weird music machines.
I stayed with school band throughout half of high school, after which I just preferred to practice and play on my own. I don't regret leaving, nor do I regret staying in band as long as I did (I didn't really enjoy band that much, ha) because I learned and got to play a lot of cool pieces. I've been in a couple of different non-school bands along the way, only a few of them ever really making it out of the (figurative) garage. I just recently left a metal band called Exile The Architect because of the way my work schedule interfered with practice time and playing shows.
Here's a picture of myself at practice maybe three or four months ago.
I currently play/am still learning drums, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, world instruments, synths, I still sing, occasionally I give screaming a try, and I still mix as a DJ under the name Hpstrlmbrjck (which is where I got my SG username.)
This would be my current logo, made by yours truly!
As for any current endeavors, I'm actually about to begin work on a compilation of covers of a few songs that I've loved over the years with my good friend Wes. I'm hoping to have a bunch of friends help me out on it as well, lending their voices/other talents. I'm also planning on putting the compilation up for sale and donating the proceeds to Stand Up To Cancer. I'm also planning on working to get a few DJ gigs set up to get my name out there.
It may seem like I have a good handle on everything, but honestly, as cliche as it may sound, I'm really only just getting started.
Thanks for reading!
