Well, according some some fascinatng new research, it seems that space and time are not continous but granular and that there may be an absolute minimum value, greater than zero, for volumes and areas of space and lengths of time. In other words spacetime may actually be composed of tiny particals somewhat akin to atoms of matter. This means that rather than space and time flowing smoothly from one quantity to the next they increase or decrease in value by "jumping" between discrete quanta. It seems this research is quite controversial and exciting because it is one of the only successful (so far) attempts at combining Einstein's Theory of Gravity with Quantum Theory, a much desired goal for theoretical physisists. This reseach has serious implications not only in the scientific realm but also in theological circles, as it may be a stride toward discovering "God".
