It's monday so imma start off with my weekly book reviews (yes I'm going to do this every week now, cause well.. I read alot and I don't really have anything else to talk about)
Anywho:
'Porno' by Irvine Welsh - Good book so far, I'm only a couple chapters into it but it strikes me as typical Welsh stuff. IE Drugs, sex, sex on drugs, scams, deals, that sorta thing. Incase you don't know this is the Sequel to 'Trainspotting' (made into a movie, had Ewan Mcgregor) and picks up with basically the same cast 10 years later. Worth checking out.
'Go Ask Alice' by Anonymous - I had actually never read this before *gasp*. I know, I felt like the only one so I picked it up and read it on my lunch break. Incase you're unfamiliar with it its the actual diary of a 15 year old girl who gets addicted to all sortsa drugs.. runs away, comes home, runs away again, comes home again, cleans up.. then dies. Thats it in a nutshell. My opinion on it, it was alright. If you haven't read it, I suggest doing so because its short. This book did not affect me the way I hear some people talk about it. Probally because that girl and the people she knew were my friends (metaphorically). Anyway.. next.
'Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs*' by Chuck Klosterman - This is a collection of stories written by Chuckles and is pretty well done. Chapter One 'This Is Emo' really hooked me in and I pretty much nonstop read it from there. Id tell more about it, but since it talks about various subjects from Saved by the Bell, to the difference between Apples and Oranges, to Video Games.. I can't really take all that room to describe each of em. They're all pretty good, some of them slower then others.. but still good. Another book worth looking into.
Finally 'I am Legend' by Richard Matheson - This is actually a re-read for me and so I obviously think this is a good book. Its not long by any means and can easily be finished in a night. This is the story of Robert Neville who is in fact the last living man on earth. Anywho, this book was written in the 1940's and takes place in the 1970's so some things are a little iffy. But seeing as it takes place in an apocalyptic age over run with vampires if you get stuck on the time jump then you missed the bigger picture. Im not going to go into detail (because I don't want to spoil anything) but the end of this book is really what does it for me and is probally one of the best closing chapters I've read. The way Neville realizes what he's become in the closing scene (and sentance for that matter) really fascinates me and so I highly reccomend this book.
And then there was real life..
This weekend was pretty funtabullous. Friday I went into Newport and got drunk with some friends and fixed my friends little brother's computer. Which was actually more interesting then it sounds. We sat around and told crappy jokes and laughed like idiots (tequilla ) and then stumbled to the car and went home.
Saturday was even cooler cause I got to goto NYC for the first time during the daylight. This will later be known as the first time I went to NYC w/o getting shot at.
I went down early with HugsNotThugs and spent most of the day harassing people in the street and singing, as is really kinda a normal day. After so long of saying 'Helly/Hi/Howdy/Aloha' to people and not being noticed I realized more drastic measures to get paid attention to would have to ensue. So I tried my hand at selling drugs. Of course, I didn't have any drugs to sell but, alas, it didn't matter anyway as people still wouldn't talk to me. Eventually we met up with the rest of the SGCT group and went to the main event the open call. If you were there then you could probally tell that I had a blast, and if you weren't then you know now.
Sunday I woke up in Queens (HAHA KAREN) in the home of the lovely Ailicia. We spent most of the day in her bed naping to ignore our hangovers before I finally crawled out and caught the train home. All in all, one hell of a weekend.
Today, however, was just an unusually long and crappy day . I woke up freezing, which I should be used to because I've had my heat off all winter. However something about this morning just made it even more aggrevating. Alas, I pushed through and found myself at work for my super exciting work day. No, no.. here the day did not get better. Somehow I managed to keep some cat hair on myself from when I crashed at Ailicia's on Saturday night and today, at work, my face suddenly turned bright red and I got some mild hives, yay! My bosses kept trying to send me home but I figured fuck it, I'd just lie around my apartment & feel like shit anyway so I might as well get paid for having a crappy day. After what seemed like forever I got home to find out that I'm being sued! YAY! Apparently I owe money to some Dr. for a bill I've never received. Which is just super.
After all that though I got home to muh puppies who just lit up my day and we all took a nap and now I feel better and I want to go out and play. So that's what I'm gonna do, peace ya'll. As usual I hope you all the best wherever you find yourselves.
