I don't sleep very well. I generally get sleep in chunks, three hours here two hours there but never any sustained amount of time. As a child i had "Night Terrors" Here is where it gets weird.
By the time I was fifteen I had overcome them, well more outgrown them really but this is when my compleate inability to sleep through a night had began.
Problem one is that I cant get to sleep. I lay in bed wide awake trying to shut down. I use to count in order to keep my mind occupied figuring that if i just stop thinking about stuff I'll be able to relax. I would count breaths count each inhale and exhale sounds soothing right.
it take one minute to reach 36
an hour - 2160
5 hours - 10,800
by 12,000 i start to see the curtains begin to lighting with dawn pushing in around them, I then realize i spent 6 hours counting and I am very tired
Counting I have found works only if you don't get caught up in it, now stop at 1000 and then switch to trying to concentrate on something simple like colors. Green and Blue swirling around like a screen saver for my brain, kinda like this:
This is how Fall asleep every night unfortunately this slumber only last between 2 and 3 hours before i have to redo the process again for the next chunk of sleep. It's a lot to go through I know but its literally all that works for me. I have tried every over the counter drug, herbal cure, old folk technique. I have showered, exercised, beat off. Tried sleeping under covers, over covers. Had the fan on, fan off. Tried music, white noise, rain forest tapes and archived nadda.
So I'm off to go count for an hour, start the screen saver and force my brain into sleep mode for the second time tonight.
Goodnight
I usually just rub one out.
