What this weekend meant to me...
*Had dinner with my friend Mike at La Charreada. We then went to his house and played music for a few hours. It's been awhile since I've actually "jammed" (I hate that word) with someone in real time. It was needed. Live music is something I participate far too little in. Mike then showed me his "Day of the Cicada" movie.
*Slept late on Saturday, lounging in bed, reading my new book. In the afternoon I had lunch/shopping/laundry with D. I got my summer haircut as well. Ahhhh. Included in my "didn't really need" purchases are Garbage Pail Kids stickers, the new issue of MOJO, and a Jack Benny/Bob Hope DVD.
*We had fun laughing at all the ridiculous products for sale at Target, including
the new Coke: C2. Is this not the stupidest idea ever? It seems to be for people that don't want all the carbs of regular coke but are too half-assed about it to drink diet Coke. Weird. And then there's new Tide: The Buzz- Ultrasonic Stain Remover Pfff! We also saw a Fisher-Price style cell phone toy that says it "Teaches Kids Early On". And D shushed me when I said rather loudly, "Teaches them what? To use the fuckin' cell phone?!". Let the indoctrination begin, I suppose. *sigh*
*Stayed up late working on two new songs. Still having trouble writing more than one and a half verses per song (blech). The guitar, with new strings, sounds like a dream.
*Sunday I took myself to lunch and did some more reading. Stopped by Circuit City and coveted their digital cameras and bought some printer ink. Then I came home and spent three hours working on renaming all my mp3 files so they are organized and consistent. I'm about half-way done with that.
*Sunday evening, off to Bazaar Cafe to meet rhiannon76 for coffee. I was somehow struck nervous by how glowingly pretty she is. She had just come from a bellydancing class but looked as if she was ready for the Grand Ball. So I'm sure I came off as an awkward goofball, but the meeting made me smile anyway.
*Met my friend Kelly at 9:30 for our movie date with Hitchcock's Rebecca, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The dialogue was mucho fun and I'd never seen Laurence Olivier in his prime. He did strike a dashing figure indeed.
