HIPPY JAM BANDS FUCKING SUCK
The story goes like this. I know a number of studios that are wiling to work with me to book their off hours and off days based o my reputationnin the industry so bands can get into a studio at an affordable rate instead of $1000 Plus extra engineer costs ($300 plus) per day. They can get in for $350 to $400. I charge ZERO engineering to help support the local music scene. So bands get a killer opportunity, I support the local scene, and we all win out.
SO I have two days in the studio booked and like a jackass I don't get this band to send the studio their deposit. Well the night before recording I call to check in, these fucking flakes in the band go. Well dude we decided it is not going to work. We are not going in the studio. I talk to two separate members of the band and I am getting different stories. Then this one jackass say well why don't you call Billy our drummer and see what the deal is. Well I say look I am not here to convince you guys to go in the studio. If you made a band decision to cancel the recording, fucking call me. I am doing you a favor , and I am not going to be be a babysitter.
I took time off work and would never look burn my bridges with a friend who is a studio owner. So I had to take a major financial hit for the two days of recording we had booked.
Doing thigs DIY can be tough. Support DIy undertaking, there is often much more time and love that go into making it happen then you realize.
NEW RULE TO SELF> FUCK HIPPYS and keep it where your heart is and record Indy Rock, singer songwritter stuff, and SKA or JAZZ.
I am finally puttiing new stuff up on our DIY recording site and I am simply going to put that we don't record "JAM' bands. Let Dave Mathews help thiese lazy fuckers out. I am not doing it.
