parenting rant ahead-move on if you do not want to read lol

this weekend was interesting. its sad when you see an 11 year old boy fail at basic knowledge. my stepson does not know how to divide, multiple, or answer simple questions. he asked today "which is longer? a yard or a mile?" total facepalm. then i asked him what was 4 divided by 2, he didn't know. he is in fifth grade, and can't do simple things. the sad part is that when he is here for the weekend, we try to get him to learn, try to teach him things. but it doesnt work. the boy is content with being stupid. cartoons and video games the whole way. which is ok, he is a kid, it is expected. but seriously, he has already been left back once, his behavior and attitude are nothing to be proud of either.
my husband and i decided that from now on when he comes over, he gets no more fun times. we will make lessons for him, to complete. math, literature, science, etc. IF he is able to answer this things correctly, then he will be allowed to watch tv-but only documentaries/educational tv. we figure he will either learn something and become a better kid (he is already heading down a bad road-he's been suspended numerous times, switched lots of schools, and recently HIT his grandmother who has custody of him) OR he will decide that he does not want to come with us for the weekends anymore, and I know this may be mean, but that in itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
but moving on. this weekend, friday through sunday we will be in baltimore! we are going to the science museum and the aquarium, and lounging it up in our super awesome hotel-pier V. it is RIGHT ON THE PIER! lol. we stayed there before and it was awesome. i cannot wait. ive been looking forward to this, especially since we put our anniversary back in january on hold, to do this-our friends are going to, which is why we decided to do it together but in separate rooms.
right now i am having a 20% off sale in my shop! awesome jewelry and bags, that you, or someone you know will LOVE. help a sista out! I know we all dont have a lot of money, but hey, its 20% off!!! http://thehautedame.etsy.com
hope everyone had a good vday-we went for pizza, smoothie, came home, got naked and watched tv on the couch-which i will be returning back to!
