Lady in the Water was on the menu yesterday and having the day off was the perfect excuse to go 'round the corner to the theatre and catch an afternoon flick.
Hehe....looks like I enjoyed it much more than most critics seem to have but I'm a sucker for M. Night's style of storytelling and I can forgive a rather ramshackle story as long as it's tasty and I thought it was, in terms of characters and some great individual scenes...probably more (intentional)laughs than scares overall and Paul Giamatti & Bryce Dallas Howard are great choices for the leads.
I read yesterday online that Kevin Coster(!) was going to be the second choice for the lead if Giamatti didn't take it....would have changed the flavour of the movie in a not-so-good way, I suspect.
Anyway, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a slighly soppy fairytale type story. So sue me.
Equally exciting was seeing the trailer for the new Christopher (Memento, Batman Begins)Nolan movie, The Prestige, which looks so incredibly tasty that my cinematic belly hasn't stopped growling since. Who needs superheroes when you can have turn-of-the-century magicians dukin' it out? Can't wait for this baby!

I was really looking forward to A Scanner Darkley, the new Keanu Reeves live animation movie, but it's not being released in theatres in Canada. Boohoo.
Turn of the century magicians eh? Sounds like my kinda movie!
