on sg-1 the new bad guy, anubis, has genetically engineered a bunch of super-soldiers. cloned humans with no intelligence, over-built hearts and muscles; designed to kick ass and then die. the gould symbiotes put into them will keep them alive until they fall in battle. and if they can't be retrieved because of overwhelming enemy forces, or inclement weather, then anubis can just clone another one and toss a new symbiote into it.
but in order to prevent a; wasting perfectly good gould symbiotes and b; the army of supersoldiers rebelling against him, anubis made the goulds stupid too. instead of passing on genetic memory containing all the knowledge of the race, the queen that breeds them by the hundreds only gives them enough to be able to kick ass and do whatever anubis tells them.
load them up with advanced weaponry and armor, drop a dozen of them into combat, fly to another enemy planet, repeat as needed. disposable super soldiers.
my idea is for a human, probably a member of sg-1 although it'd be much cooler if it was just some average joe that happened to be around, maybe carter's cop boyfriend or a member of the science team, got possessed by one of the dumb goulds. that way, he'd get all the gould powers; ability to control gould technology, healing factor, resistance to disease and poison and the like, prolonged life, increased strength and stamina, and so on.
but the mentally deficient symbiote wouldn't have enough willpower to take control of a host mind more complex than, say, a potato. so instead of becoming a slave to the gould parasite, the host would just have this voice in the back of his head telling him to use his powers for evil.
o'niell -- felger, go take out those jaffa!
felger -- right! (jumps across a canyon, approaches the jaffa from behind)
symbiote -- no! use the jaffa to kill sg-1! do it for anubis who is your lord and master!
felger -- i don't know... anubis is kind of a jerk.
symbiote -- be silent! i will destroy you!
felger -- stow it, you. (punches the jaffa over the cliff) O'NIELL! ALL CLEAR HERE!
symbiote -- i hate you. why has anubis forsaken me?
felger -- because you're annoying. go away, i need to go mack on carter. she thinks i'm cool now that i'm all superhuman and stuff.
symbiote -- she only likes you because of me. you should poison her next meal.
felger -- i don't think she'd like that very much.
