too many vacation options this summer. never mind the need to get a job first and save up money, we'll worry about that later. well, i'll worry about that.
anyways.
canada
drive two days up north to the family cabin on a lake in the middle of BC. spend relaxing time doing little or nothing in the middle of nowhere with the family.
+ presuming bread, molli, and leilani come along, and scott and annie, it'd be the first time in years with all three brothers and the first time ever with the entire current family.
- if this is the case i'd be taking the train with scott and annie instead of riding up with mom and dad, resulting in a shorter trip.
+ canada rocks.
- i'm fresh out of negatives...
sdcc
fly down to san diego for the comicon, the biggest comic convention in america. see all kinds of cool things and people. meet up with the guys i know online who congregate there every year. find any number of cool things to buy.
+ meet some of my virtual friends in person.
- i don't like california.
+ i'd be at the biggest g33k convention in the country.
- thanks to the internet, there's not much drive to go to cons anymore; i'm sure i'd find stuff to buy, but it's far less likely to be something i can't find anywhere else than it was before ebay.
england
my friend luke is a movie critic in LA, but he hails from england. he's flying home in august for his 30th birthday party, and he's extended an open invitation for us all* to join him there.
+ meet LYT and his family.
- the plane ticket alone would fund the sdcc trip entirely.
+ see some of england with native guides.
- might never leave.
+ unlike the sdcc, this won't happen again next summer.
- unlike the sdcc, this would almost definately compete with going to canada.
*us all being the guys on his message board
