"In the same confusing breath,
You pull away and draw me in.
I wanted you. You wanted more.
I built this life and now it's mine."
We stayed up until about 6am walking around Montreal and talking photos inside old crazy churches, which in hindsight wasn't really the best idea considering I was flying out the next morning and needed to be at the airport around 9am. I squeezed in a solid hour of sleep which ended up doing the trick even though I was convinced it wouldn't. Clearing customs was a snap, there was literally no one in line ahead of me and the same was true for the security screening. Later I was stopped by someone conducting a survey about Montreal Airport and asked how long I had to wait in lines at these places which was somewhat amusing, though I hadn't had any coffee yet. From there I flew out to Chicago and had about 10 minutes to get across the airport to my connecting flight to St. Louis which I made, but barely. Of course this is the complete opposite direction of where I was eventually headed. I finally made it to Washington DC around 7pm, after passing through 2 time zones and back again, and 4 airports in one day. Also turning a trip which should have taken about 2 hours into an all day affair.
I got to DC and Diana was there to pick me up. I'd seen her sometime last year, but not for about 7 years before that. She was actually in my wedding and one of my oldest friends and a good reminder that I need to be better about staying in touch with the people I care about. I've always kind of sucked in that department but I'm trying not to.
That said, I'm still running.
Photos from Montreal are here, ones from DC are going to be here.
I also just finished Palahniuk's RANT which followed Ellis' Crooked Little Vein - both have made great traveling books.

obd:
The no picture taking sign is pretty good. I've never been to Montreal, or Toronto for that matter.
