"Seen the carnival at Rome, Had the women I had the booze
All I can remember now, Is little kids without no shoes
So I saw that train, And I got on it
With a heartful of hate, And a lust for vomit
Now I'm walking on the sunnyside of the street"
It seems like I just got back from Japan and I'm already heading right back out again. I leave this week for a 2 and a half week whirlwind tour around Northeastern bits of the US and nearby Canada. I'm planning on about 4 days or so in each place with a day for travel in between but basically I leave on the 18th heading to New York City where I'll be eating retarded amounts of some of the best vegan food in the country. From there I go to Toronto where I'm excited to see old friends from the Toybox Records days and then I head of up Montreal which will actually be my first trip to that city. There's already some Galactichaos being planned for that leg of the trip so I'll most likely have links for you after the fact. From there I head back to the states (through Chicago and St Louis airports) ending up in Washington DC. I was actually born in DC and spent a ton of time there as a kid but I haven't been there probably since my mid teens. I'm excited to see if things are at all how I remember, as well as how much change I can pick out at a glance. That wraps up with a flight back to LA on Sept 5th. In all these cities I'll be hanging out with friends both new and old, as well as spending a lot of time with Metroblogging authors who write for our blogs in those cities. I've also got stacks of business meetings and plan on making the most of coffee and food options I can't get elsewhere. One of the main thing behind these trips is to get a feel for these other cities and what makes them unique. I'm becoming such a nerd about this kind of thing I just can't wait to ride trains and walk streets in new cities and talk to the people there about what makes those places home. And then I'll be back, just long enough to remind Los Angeles how much I love it, and map out plans for the next trip.
