this headache wont go away
i think im gonna go to see the children at the school tommorow. i've been pretty much insolated becuz of this new sleeping pattern and havent seen a person in almost a week.
im working on a new song uner the working title "dont be shy" its pretty typical of what i was writing a few months ago. pianos synthezized strings. it has a pretty nice retro synth hook that sounds alot like what u might hear on a unicorns album. but its still arranged and calling it a song is stretching it.
speaking of songwriting i've been pretty bummed that im not as prolific now as i have been for the past few months. well i decided to an inventory and i've still written about six songs this months one of them being one of the best songs i've ever written. i was writing six songs a week in july and all of them were really creative and different. now im writing things that are sound like those songs and its bumming me out. i guess i cant write really original songs all the time
im kicking myself for not getting a badge for the cmj marathon this week. i could have been seeing tons of bands i've wanted to see for years. so next year i pledge to save my money and get a badge. that means no more money hungry girlfriends and gullable darrens
im remembering why since i left you by the avalanches is top three on my fav albums list. i've been revisiting some of those classic albums of my past for the past week after months of searching for new music. im remembering why i liked hip hop and now i dont like it. theres only been a handful of really great hip hop albums in my opinion. one word by prefuse being my fav. i've recently been turned on to dj shadow and rjd2 i would say they are not nearly as good prefuse coz prefuse is so progressive. no music hip hop or not is that rhythmically abrasive yet groovey and catchy. and as for mc's, well aesop rock is still my favorite. and mf doom is a distant second. with doseone a respectable third. but i listen to slug and and what not and i wonder why people dig this. aesop is by far the best wordsmith out of all of them. just listen to the first verse of daylight. its prolly the best words to come out of a recording artist since.. well i dont know. also aesop is quick and dizzying with his flow. its always off kilter and slightly jagged and always always distictivly him.
mf doom on the other hand is so smooth and deceptivally simple. he doesnt have those cadances aesop has but where aesop almost seems to spitting so much so fast u feel overwhelmed doom is consitently smooth and almost romantic. his voice is perfect and his flow is so gruff. madvillian next to the avanlanches and prefuse and labor days is my fav hip hop album. mf doom has such character and sweet little zingers. he is an mc's mc
dose one. what can i say about him. he's insane. doseone is insane. u listen to the velvet ant and tell me the motherfucker is producing the most original music of this decade so far. its not hip hop. its not mc'ing. its truely original. dose can be smooth, melodic, fast, jerky, off kilter. his talent really under appreciated and unobserved by most. check out ten. check it out
why did i just rant about hip hop?
