ok so i finally went to see the da vinci code last night.
and once again, something has affirmed my belief that we are all a bunch of ignorant bastards.
i thought it was wonderful. it makes so many good points. and ok sure, maybe some of those points are also bullshit,
but whos to say they are or arent? who dictates who's right and wrong in this issue of jesus christ?
i was born and raised in a traditional irish catholic family. but at a young age i knew that i was far different from the rest of my family because i could feel things they couldnt and see things they didnt.
i dont wanna get into it cuz ur all gonna think im a crazy bitch, not that you dont already....lol
but the point im making is that no one human being or a book of faith can tell us the whole truth. since when do we let someone else dictate how we choose to live our lives? i consider the bible more of a suggestive manual. its something to believe in if you choose to do so, its neither right nor wrong in my opinion, but that also means that whatever any other religion chooses to believe is either right or wrong either.
god will not punish those who dont follow the book word for word, nor the ones who dont go to church every sunday for the rest of their lives. he's not going to send you to hell for having sex before marriage or being gay. if you feel guilt for something you've done, god will forgive you. and if not, then what does it matter at this point, its not like you can take it back now.
tell me this, if a man and his family live somewhere deep in the heart of the amazon, and they live a good life respecting eachother and nature. but they are never shown the way of God or the teachings of Jesus Christ, will they be sent to hell when they die for never having been "saved"?....
geez, im really laying it out there today....
sorry guys. this is an issue that matters to me and i like to debate about it with anyone willing, but none of my friends ever want to even touch on the subject.
xx
