Phew! It's gonna... take me... a while to catch up... huff, huff, hold on. Sorry... it's just that I'm awfully busy, especially as school started yesterday... *wipes sweat from brow* But it's cool.
Ok . Commence an obscenely long travelogue. Thank god for the 'more' feature on the bookmarks page, yes?
Upon arriving in Seattle, I noticed two awesome buildings: The Lusty Lady and the gun loans/adult entertainment store. Being from Portland I'm pretty jaded about pron, but sometimes, it's approached with real moxie.
While in Seattle, I stayed with an amazing host, whose life gives me hope for not fucking up after graduation, and gave me a vision of success without graduate school.
Here he is standing in front of a self portrait by Chuck Close which currently resides in the Student Union of Seattle University.
We went to Jones Soda so that I could conduct an interview with the woman who selects the photographs that go on the actual bottle labels. Unfortunately, she was out.
Here is the receptionist delivering the bad news bears.
While in Seattle, we also went to the Experience Music Project/Sci-Fi Museum. This is the ENTIRE handwritten manuscript of Neal Stephenson's the Baroque Cycle. We interviewed the curator of the museum, who turned out to be a really cool person.
At one point during our trip, the dorm kids of one of my travel companions drove up to Seattle just to see her. However, they used her car for that trip. She was NOT happy, despite the presence of pie.
We visited the Seattle Public Central Library, which was definitely an EXTRAORDINARY experience. The architecture is stunning. Check out the defiant presence of a TEN STORY BLOCK OF CONCRETE anchoring the center of a sculpture of glass & steel.

The entire dewey decimal system in ths new library is set up within an elaborate spiral from floors 5-9. SO cool.
Check out the futuristic escalator.
Photograph of a friend through a hole in the escalator pathway.
This was a weird feature in the library: a giant SHOP sign. It's like a Barbara Kruger, but IRL!
We went to the Seattle NPR affiliate KXLU to interview Jeremy Richards, the host of the weekend show. You should check it out if you're located in the city.
Yes, that is my rockin' Army of Darkness shirt!
We went to Vancouver to interview Tim Walker, the campaign maanger of Adbusters. This was a wonderful and enlightening experience. Check out this photograph of their kitchen sink, compleat with Black Spot.
Cityscape of Vancouver. The amount of expansion in this city is AMAZING! I love cities comprised of architecture dating past a specific period of innovation, because then everything's all shiny and modern like.
When we went to Vancouver, we met up with Lemonkid and got sushi. Here is a picture of my spider roll. Because it was JUST THAT GOOD THAT I NEED TO REMEMBER IT. Yum!
We went to a venue to watch Bettina & Lulumae perform. Barring the music (so very not my cup of tea), it was quite lovely.
Around this point, we blasted out of THAT popsicle stand to go to an awesome dive gay bar, where I got to see a fat old dude do amyl nitrate, amongst other things!
Lemonkid & Scylla!
Scylla, Posh, Tiamat!
Lemonkid & Posh!
there is disappointingly little text in this image-intensive entry. I prefer to let the photographs do most of the work. Unfortunately, I have no images of the very very hyperkinetic interview with one of the fish throwers at Pike Place Fish, but believe me when I say that they are very enthused about their jobs.
My sleeping schedule is far too fucked up for being up at this hour. Imma get a few hours sleep before my next class (the only 400 level offered in my major this semester. Wish me luck!)
Man, I'm sure glad I had that random ipod lying around for this trip...
Free 40 gig photo ipods. Unfortunately, not available to Canadians.
Cameras4free. High end (5+ mp) cameras. Also open to Canadians
MP3 players 4 free. ALSO open to Canadians, and has the 20 gig ipod, among others.
