sometimes it's the small things that can do more than their share to make your day.
for instance, having lived up here for a number of years now, it tickles me pink that when the little blurb on the Parks Highway in between commercials on the National Geographic Channel mentions that on clear days you can see Denali, there is no mention at all of it being Mt. McKinley.
for the smaller number of people who are too lazy for links out of the small number of people who actually read my blogs, Denali is the (Alaskans would say more proper and) original name given to Mt. McKinley by the native Athabaskans. it means "Great One," and was given to the mountain because it's goddamn huge. it wouldn't be that big of an issue if it wasn't for the fact that future president William McKinley never even saw the mountain. if he had climbed it and planted a flag, ok. but no flag, no mountain. British rules, you know.
