I survived my birthday bash on Saturday night and spent Sunday (my actual birthday) trying to recover. My favorite present was a picture that my friend found of us surfing back in 1986. It was classic. He had it blown up and framed.
Well I'm gearing up for a night of partying. My friends are throwing a not-so-surprise party for me at the Palms. It will be my last big shin-dig as a twenty something year old. Gosh, 30 seems so old. Yet if Peter Cole can still surf sunset at age 70 something, then I've got nothing to worry about.

Just got back from an all day diving/fishing trip at the islands. Looks like I'll be eating lobster and fish tomorrow for dinner......mmm.....mmm.

i'm sorry to hear it took such a sad event to bring you all together, life's funny that way. it's hard to lose a friend but being able to get togehter with others and share memories can be a good way to get through it.
i was up in m.b. and caucous today, we went up to see my mom. it was a beautiful day and just being by the water makes me happy (weird since we live by in a beach town!). it was funny to read about your trip up there after just getting back! trip out that you mentioned avila because that's my old stomping ground. i say my hometown is s.l.o. because more people know where that is but i lived in a canyon just outside avila until i was 16. me, my brothers and our friends have spent so much time in the water there and i don't ever remember any shark attacks. it seems like the eco-system there is all whacked out since avila was "re-vamped". it's so strange for me to go there now...

First day back to work after a week off for xmas vacation. Xmas was a drag. Spent xmas away from home chasing waves. Heading up to Norcal this weekend to go snowboard with some friends. Hopefully I can find some other things to do while I'm up there.

Just got back from the city council meeting and I'm hooked. I definitely want to get involved with community politics. I do belong to a local grassroots group that we just started up that is going to monitor police activities in our community. I can just see it now: "Scrubo For Mayor".
