I cant sleep so im gonna tell y'all a little story about my Nan.
Years and years ago (when she was in her thirties I think) she was walking home, alone one night. On her way a young man grabbed her and dragged her into an alley with the intention of raping her. This is obviously a terrible and scary situation for anyone to be in. I cant imagine how scary it would have been and thats what makes this story all the more remarkable. Even in this terrible situation she kept her head. It was freezing cold and raining so before this man could do anything my nan revealed that she lived just round the corner. She told this scum bag that, resigned to the fact that there was little she could do to stop him, they may aswell go to her house in the warmth where she wont be left for dead in a gutter. He saw this as reasonable and lead her home. On entering the house he learnt that she had a husband, my grandad, that happened to 6 foot 2 inches tall police man who proceeded to chase this guy away and return to look after his beloved wife.
I got home last night and found out my nan had died peacefully in her sleep the night before. In light of that this may sound like an odd story to choose to tell but i feel it show what a truely remarkable lady she was far better than any tales of all the charity work she did and all the people she made happy.
Loved and missed forever.
