ok, i've had it. this NFL thing has me livid. im obviously a steelers fan. been a rabid steelers fan my whole life. so when i see what the league is doing to james harrison right now, it just sets me off.
FIRST, the fine, when you watch the hit against Massaquoi, yes he did leave his feet with his head down. that is the black letter of the rule book and so yes it was an illegal hit. with that said, its very easy to see that on about half of the tackles that happen every weekend in the NFL. but here's my question, if it was such a huge no-no that warranted a change of the rules and a $75k fine, why wasn't there a flag on the field? yea its very easy to find rule infractions when you have a mystical group of who knows how many people watching a frame by frame slow motion replay of something that happened in real life in under a quarter of a second.
SECOND. he got fined more for that hit than the other two players from sunday because he is a repeat offender. LOVE MY STEELER DEFENSE!!! there isn't a single player on the steeler defense that doesn't hit like a truck and james is the biggest of all of them. two teams in the NFL you know going in to play that your going to get hurt because the defense is just brutal are the steelers and the ravens. noone gets out of a steelers or ravens game completely unscathed. it just doesn't happen.
THIRD, JAMES, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok, you don't want to play by the new rules, fine retire. but you going on national radio saying that you don't like it and may quit only makes a bad situation worse. think about it, even if the league was willing to change their mind and realize this was a knee jerk reaction and loosen up a bit, they now can't because the MVP, Pro Bowler, and future hall of famer james harrison threatened to quit because he didn't like the rule. if they do decide to lighten up now it will look like they caved to the demands of a star player, not acting in the better interest of the league. you just guaranteed this will be the law of the land from now on. THANKS!!!!
