First post, no friends on here as of yet due to my sorely abused abilities of networking.
I guess a basic intro for those coming tow check out my profile is in order.
My name is Finlay. I am a Veteran.
Erm... those are 2 things, what else?
I am big into sci fi and fantasy books, as well as i am learning that i like the convention scene and am looking to do a lot more there.
Basically, i am a geek. I love Doctor Who, can quote lines from Star Trek, can do impressions of various members from there(as well as Presidents)...
I am a music geek as well. Love me some indie scene, though i must confess that i do not agree with the sell-out tag thingie that i have encountered here and there. I mean, a band makes music and does it's thing, not only to create, but to make money of the their talents. so that they can eat, drink, have clothes, and hopefully afford them more money and time to write more music.
A couple/few years ago I was Honorably Discharged from the Navy because of my development of Crohn's Disease when enlisted.
The worst day of my life was when I finally lost the battle to stay in the service.
It broke me. I am now finally getting myself put back together, and actually have goals again, but i recently figured out that i had been broken. Just figured i had been a loser these past couple years... but no more. I am now going to counseling and getting my head back straight. For the first time in years and damn it feels good.
Got a good interim job at the local deli while i get myself back to peak physical strength so that i can train to become a firefighter. Uncle Sam might not want me anymore, but i ain't done with civil service yet. Found out i was good at firefighting when in the Navy(things happen) , and I will be damned if Crohn's Disease is going to stop me. This, "condition," is going to be with me the rest of my life. I am going to eventually need surgery, will get colon cancer, and will have to watch what i eat, where i go, what i do just so i don't get hospitalized for eating a fucking salsa chip.
I am an equalist. Everyone is equal. I do not care if you are female, male, black, white, asian*insert all races, sexual preferences, and genders here* I find racism, sexism... well, basically prejudices for most everything to be vile.
I realize this post, and my current tone is bitter, but don't let that fool ya. I am merely pointing out the big things in my life that have happened that helped shape me to this person whose blog you are reading.
I am thinking it is time to wrap this up, so i shall leave you with a little saying from Churchill that is currently my life motto, and it seems to be working so far, "If you find yourself in Hell, keep going."

Sorry to hear about the Crohn's disease...I've taken care of people with that... Good for you for taking your life and your body back...when a lot of people just lie down in defeat.
