Just got back from our little run around the "rust belt" with Dope. While it wasn't a long tour by any means I learned more about life, music, people and being in a band in five days then I thought humanly possible.
After a 14 hour van ride through the night we arrived at Peabody's in Cleveland at 2 in the afternoon. We rolled into the venue with little to no sleep looking like total n00bs. Not knowing where to put our gear, who to talk to, a total deer in head lights. After a ridiculous amount of local bands be got to play. We played good, we played hard. We got a lot of new fans and earned the respect of dopes road crew. which made life a hell of a lot easier.
The next night we played in toledo, which was a total nightmare. It was a classic, "hey we wanna have a rock show but have no idea what that involves." the room, the stage, the bar, the crowd was tiny. We played because we aren't above it and we were payed our rate in advance. Dope on the other hand did not, the promoter and the bar did not sell enough tickets to pay them what they were contracted for. Which sucks but thats like you going to work and your boss tells you, "you aren't getting payed for this," what would you do? I would walk the fuck out. So I don't blame them for doing just that. After that some dude took us to a strip club and it was a damn fine one at that. deja vu, cheap beer and hot girls, nik was on of them
I spent way to much money that night. don't go into a club drunk with all your money, you will leave with none of it.
We then headed to Michigan for a show in Flint, at the Machine Shop. which is the coolest place to play in the world. so many great people work there. We also drank all of dope's beer that night. haha! Next was Detroit at Harpo's. Harpo's is a crazy stuck in the 70's giant theater with a ten foot tall stage and stacks and stacks of old school speakers. We had two lovely ladies dancing for us on stage, I didn't get to thank them Dope gave us there hotel rooms because they were heading to.Chicago which was very nice of them.
Chicago or Mokena (whatever) was the last stop of the tour. the crowd was Zombiefied for all the bands. it kinda sucked but we still played or hearts out. after the show we said out good byes and headed back to lincoln in sub zero weather and ice storms.
know back home where I feel like I'm in a prison, waiting to be let out again. We might be playing some dates soon with Otep, there is also talk of a few date with Slipknot or the music as a weapon tour with disturbed, but we shall see
