All good. The relationship had been dying on the vine for over a year. I finally manned up and ended it. I was hesitant to do it for a long time; my ex has been entirely dependent on me financially for close to 5 years, and I have depended on her to look after the kids while I work.
However, the kids are fairly independent these days; they have had to be. The ex has some issues with depression and anxiety, and so the kids are often having to walk themselves to school, or cook thier own dinner, or just generally take care of themselves while she sleeps and I'm elsewhere.
So, the way things have fallen out so far; she is going to keep living here. Not sure how long, depends on how well we can coexist post breakup, I guess. I'm still funding everything, and still giving her money to live on, for now.
I was kind of hoping that this would be the push she needed to actually start trying to deal with the real world again... may have misjudged that one. But I couldn't stay in the relationship any longer, I've been miserable at home for a long time, and I needed out. Granted, her moving across the hall isn't exactly a lot of space, but it's a good first step.
Guess we'll see how things go from here...
