Why does my life always SEEM to be going so well, and then something happens that completely fucks with everything?!?
So...I'm at work, and of course, I hate being back on the Front End, but anything is better than where I used to work...the Vault. I went home three hours early on Monday, called in 'bogus' sick yesterday, and this morning, I actually put effort into going to work and being in a good mood. So, after an hour of dilligence, my cashier asked me to get an item number for a member who had a pair of pants with no tag. I ran to get the number, and when I came back, my ankle twisted under my feet, and I slammed into the cement with a loud *thud*. Here's how it played out after that:
Cashier: Um...did I just see you on the floor?
Me: Shut up...
So, I tried to work on it for a half an hour or so, and then decided to tell one of my Supervisors what happened because it was really starting to hurt. Well....she fucking forgot about me for over an hour, and I had to work on it anyway!! Ooooohh, I was pissed, but she remembered and pulled me into the office to fill out an incident report. I decided to work for a little longer, but the pain became unbearable, and I was sent home early from work...(of course, I DID reap in some sick pay benefits by leaving early).
So...I called my mom after I left work to tell her what happened, and she told me that my grandfather was on his way to the emergency room because he had fluid in his lungs, and they thought it might be mnemonia. (sorry about the spelling on that one). I didn't think much of it at first, seeing as how it's the third time this week that he's had to go to the emergency room, but then my mom says that I need to pack a black dress for our vacation this Friday..."just in case". Ok...now I'm starting to panic! I jumped on the phone with my aunt in Virginia, and she was just leaving the house to head to South Carolina (where my grandpa lives), and she said it was pretty serious, and that I should try and get a flight out tonight to see the family. My eyes started swelling up, and I'm trying hard not to panic, thinking about all of the things I need to do before we leave, and we aren't even supposed to go until Friday.
To make a long story short...(oops, too late)...they drained a bunch of fluid from his lungs, and it turned out it wasn't mnemonia. But, he has to stay in the hospital for the remainder of his life...which my family thinks will only be another week or so...and I'm not flying out until Friday to see them. I tried to get a ticket for tonight or tomorrow, but they only had first class seats available, and it was around $2500.00 round trip. FUCK THAT!!
So, that was my day in a nutshell. I guess he's ok for now...the last I heard, he was snoring, and he's doing ok. As for my ankle...god damn, it hurts!! I've been icing it for a couple of hours now, and it's starting to swell. I might have to go to the doctor myself tomorrow if this keeps up. And all I keep thinking is that there is some cosmic force trying to kill me or something...what with the falling down the stairs thing just the other day. I still have bruises from that...now I'm limping like an Oompa Loompa. JESUS!! BTW...I have a funny picture of me in an oompa loompa halloween costume that I should post up here some time for shits and giggles.
Well, goodnight kids. Sorry about the long post, but you know me.
Kisses
