Yeah, but around here, it's not about what you intend, it's about what is perceived. Just like everywhere else. This is a community with its own standards, just like any other community. There is a fair bit of hazing but if you maintain your cool and don't jump in too fast and too hard with posting, you'll learn the ropes and learn what is and is not acceptable around here. One of the things that the more influential among us value highly is the egalitarianism of the SG's. Even if you're talking about relatively objective indicators of popularity (# of comments, how many people list them as favorites, etc.), the implication is that you're talking about one being better than another, which is really not accepted, in the same way that you can get in trouble for leaving negative comments in SG photosets. The implication in "Which SG is the most popular?" is that there must be an SG who is LEAST popular, whether or not you intended that implication or not.
That was a lot of rambling incoherency, but you probably catch my drift. Just as in any other community in which you're a n00b, you have to keep your cool and learn the ropes and you'll be fine. These are great people, they're just very protective, which is probably caused by the management (S5, MissySean, Olivia, etc.) and their views towards the treatment of SG's and the rest of the community. Have you read the FAQ? If you haven't, I'd recommend reading it right now. Lots of important information.
Anyways, take care. Best of luck. Hope you have a better experience in the future here.
I don't think that's the case ALL the time or even MOST of the time. There are just certain sensitive subjects. For example, if you did a topic that said, "I love cute butts!" and posted your favorite SG butt pics, you'd probably get an 18 page thread of nice hineys. But if you said "Which SG has the best butt?" and posted your candidates, you'd probably get a 24 page of nice hineys/people declaring that there is no "best" and that we all have our own unique taste in hindquarters. I've found that after being a member for almost a year, it takes zero effort to steer away from taboo topics. It just becomes natural.
