So, why did nobody tell me that Saturday night in Indy was BLACK EXPO TEEN NIGHT!????
This is not a racist entry. Let me explain a little bit about my weekend.
Saturday afternoon: We arrived at Indy and check into the Omni hotel. We're sitting around the lobby and notice a lot of black people. We just thought it as a wedding party, or something. They weren't bothersome, or anything.
We get to our rooms, and out of curiosity my sister in law checks what's happening in Indy this weekend, because there were police on every block for a mile in town. We noticed that the Black Expo 2009 was in town, and we also notice it was being sponsored by former members of the Black Panthers.
We decide to take a cab to the martini bar, because the sidewalks were full of people standing around, and talking about their recent "shootings" they were involved in. We make it to the martini bar, and it was FUCKING AMAZING!!! We noticed strangely that there was a 5 buck cover charge. 0_o There wasn't a band, or anything going on there that night.
After hours and hours of laughs and martinis we are heading up the stairs when all of a sudden a police officers steps down and says, "Ladies it's going to be a few minutes. There's been a shooting right outside of here." I venture a few steps up to notice five black people laying on the ground in handcuffs, and police officers furiously searching for the desired weapon of choice.
The police are nice enough to allow us to slip outside to get to our cab. We then notice that the ENTIRE street has been closed off, so our taxi driver "Sam" cannot reach us. We call, and call, and call him, but traffic is so FUCKED that he can't pick us up. The police officer notes that the hotel is only 2 blocks north of us, and we join the sea of ghetto trash and pretty much speed walk the entire way back in heels. My feet were on fire.
They are FUCKING RUDE! I got whistled at numerous times, and a few people in our party got called out, "HEY MAMA, WHERE YOU GOING? HOW YOU DOING?" There were people pissing everywhere, and you could see people smoking blunts in every group. For the girls, I've seen hookers dress classier, and moments away from the shooting we saw another group of people getting ready to start a fight.
If anyone happens to watch the video. You'll notice a yellow sports car. We were there when that car got flagged over to be ticketed.
It was insane, and the black community call it a "positive experience". Whatever. It was nothing more than a giant "hook-up" spot for either sex or drugs. Your choice.
The shooting that happened outside of Nicky Blaines wasn't the only one that happened that night.
Sheesh. *rolls eyes*
Walking back to the hotel we overheard a cop say, "That's the expo for ya."
All I have to say is FUCK-DAT-SHIT!
My birthday will be memorable, but for totally uncool reasons.
