Just now as I'm sitting here, I can see out my window the tops of some nearby trees, amongst which stretches a single strand of a spider's web. I can only see it by virtue of the setting sun's angle as it illuminates the reflective fibers and it is an amazing thing. As it is pulled alternately taught and then let slack from the wind pushing the trees back and forth, I am reminded of the struggle each of us has to face every day and how, even though we are tiny in comparison to the world of forces that act against us, we can, if we draw strength from within ourselves and use the resources available to us, ultimately triumph over even the most seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It's absolutely incredible how strong the web has to be in order to withstand the tremendous stretching as the limbs and branches pull apart and fall back together like drunken sailors riding a ship on rough seas. Nature is truly awe inspiring. I mean... wait... ummm... oh, actually... I think it's fishing line. Yeah, it's definitely fishing line. Heh. Never mind.
