Lots of great memories associated with the Linkin Park camp in my lifetime.
When I was freshly hired on at Island Records as a wide eyed 18 year old kid, Linkin Park was one of the first shows I ever worked. They were opening for the Kottonmouth Kings and were still called Hybrid Theory. I would go on to see and work with these dudes many more times over the years and that camp was always awesome to me.
Chester one time, backstage at a gig where they opened for Papa Roach and Hed Pe, cried on my shoulder (I still have no idea why really). Dude was always super humble and human in the time I knew the band (a year or so after Meteora came out, I lost contact with the group)
While I haven't been a fan since "Minutes To Midnight" this band and those dudes remained among my all time favorites to work and hang out with. I even met the mother of my child at a backstage event they had while headlining in Fall of 2001.
On Record Store Day this year, a record store up here was giving away a table of CD's with a purchase, and I got 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora" for my 13 year old daughter. They were just that kind of band, something I could show my daughter and she embraced it just as excitedly as I did as a 18 year old back in 2000.
Thanks for the memories Chester, Rest Easy Old Friend
