The Deconstruction day turned out to be better than we thought. But not thanks to Deconstruction, but thanks to a band that played a few miles away from the venue. LOL.
So what happened is that at 2pm i was at the festival site to do an interview with Only Crime (a band featuring Bill Stevenson, former Black Flag!). After the interview (ended at 2.30pm), we learnt that the doors opening had been delayed by 2 1/2 hours because one of the trucks, the one carrying the whole stage stuff, had been blocked for random inspection at the border. So we had a lot of time to kill, and in comes Watertower, a band that was playing for free in my own town, just 5 minutes away from the Deconstruction site. So we went there, the whole band was happy to see us (since they're friends of us), and the whole setting was odd: they were playing at the opening of a park! The opening also included some ballet by young ballet-scholars, a karate exhibition by teenagers, and the whole park was filled with families and ittle children... and Watertower is a ska-core band singing against police and praising the power of a pussy every now and then. LOL. Waiting for the show, we drank at a close-by bar and ate a lot of their free food. Then we watched the 30-minute show (they cut off the anti-police anthems...), had fun, and headed back to the Deconstruction along with Watertower drummer Ga.
We learnt that a few bands on the bill had to be cut off, because the delay with the stage suff was enormous. So we watched a few bands anyway, and had the right amount of fun.
But as we were predicting, the turnout was VERY poor. Very very few people, didn't even cover the area behind he mixer. And the lights in the venue were on all the time! What the hell? Never seen a crappier festival setting! A man more famous than me (despite the fact that i hate him) used to sing "With the lights out / It's less dangerous / Here we are now / Entertain us!". So... please turnt he lights down while bands are playing!!!
Ok, so here are a couple of pics. Try guessing where we had the most fun.
Option #1: Watertower playing for kids in a park
Option #2. Deconstruction tour. This shows the venue during the flaming BoySetsFire set, at 9.30pm.
That's all. Ciaociao for now.
And go wish Stitch allt he best for her newborn baby! It's a male!
