My father's funerals were very moving and turned out very good.
There were so many people coming there, lots of family friends, some of my personal friends (even some unexpected ones from my past), lots of his own friends (mainly from th gym! he really knew a lot of people at the gym!), and some costumers of his shop too, they were shaking my hand after the ceremony, saying that they bought this or that and that my father was always nice to everyone. Of course there were a lot of relatives too, since he had 2 brohters and 2 sisters.
A big surprise at the cerimony was the arrival of four officials of the Italian Red Cross in high parade uniform. Of them, i only knew one (some of my red cross colleagues were present, but in plainclothes). Everyone was surprised by it, me included, but i later learnt that, since we asked people not to buy flowers for the coffin, but rather make a donation to the red cross foundation, the red cross sent out three officials to officially thank my family. There were two in ambulance uniform, and two in military uniform. It was so surprising.
Personally, it's strange to say, but i feel ok. I totally accepted his departure, i was with him as he drew his last breath, and he went quietly and seemed to be happier, so i was happy for him. I saw his mortal coil for a few seconds yesterday, but i preferred to remember him alive, or a few minutes after death, after they got the part of the eye needed, he looked relaxed, it's true what they say, that sometimes the dead look like they're just sleeping.
And it was so fitting, that the doctor that declared his death, then came to me and thanked me for the eye transplant, because that doctor had been blind, and regained sight with cornea transplant! That was so moving.
Right now i don't have much else to add. Apparently, now i am the owner of a watches shop? The idea seems to odd. I will do my best there. Working is the best way to keep my mind busy.
ciaociao for now. And don't mind me if i start leaving silly comments here and there again. I will always want to have a laugh with some friends.
ciao!
