This is a poor excuse for a blog, but here goes:
Check out the new Frame It e-store and WabanPhoto, two new online facets of my shop. I get to do most of the graphics and some of the copy, (because god knows I don't want to be blamed for all of it,) as well as a great deal of the product design and fabrication. I feel myself wanting to be invested in this venture; I'm starting to regain a sense of pride in my work and a feeling of validation from satisfied customers. It's just that my boss still sucks and the payroll/benefits structure is pretty much illegal, as is the case in many small businesses. It's not a sweatshop, and at least I have a job, but I have mixed emotions about driving this business when it's just one more thing I do "for experience" instead of "earning a living" or "eating regularly."
Speaking of non-paying but still-satisfying experience... In the last month, I've done another round of dressage shooting with Calista's horses, which are getting a favorable response on the show circuit thus far; I've shot the first round of my friend's tribute to "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" with hopefully three or four more rounds to go, and I've done more promo/portfolio work for Joey Asal and 12 Races, 12 Months, a great personal project put together by Wendy Jepson. I am also getting a bit more side-work of the pin-up variety, although nothing for here; the last couple times I've tried to arrange an SG shoot, things have... just not happened, I guess. I'm not as invested as I once was, but really it should be up to the model, the woman, to pursue and arrange the shoot and then commit to it. I have fun when it happens, but not so much that it's worth getting jerked around.
Oh, and I beat New Mario Bros. for Wii about two weeks ago. Except for maybe a half-dozen star coins in world 9. The little guy's so different from the old days, yet so much the same...
