Holy shit it's been a crazy fucking week. I need to slow down, but it's so hard to not spread myself hella thin.
As you all know, last weekend on Friday night I went and competed in the first round of the world karaoke competition. Total fluke that I placed. This Friday I go back, armed with two songs to compete with again. If I place again, I get to go to state. The bummer is that I'm sporting mouth and throat ulcers from a buildup of acid in body, thanks to stress! (Apthus stomilitis, or something like that. I forget the actual spelling.) This shit HURTS LIKE A SON OF A BITCH, OMG. And it's so fucking annoying that I have to warp my entire diet so that I can lessen the acid in my system. (bye-bye orange juice. -sigh-) Needless to say, I am hoping that this will not affect my ability to sing, though I can already feel the strain in just normal day-to-day talking. I have a little over two days to heal.
Meanwhile, I'm mulling over what songs I want to do. I don't want to stay too in my comfort zone, and I haven't formally competed with Stevie Nick's yet. So I was thinking of doing Fleetwood Mac's Dreams. Then doing a newer song by Sara Barellies (sp?) called Love Song. It's right smack in my range, aside from the chorus, which is a bit of a stretch for me. But the challenge will be good for stretching out my out-of-whack vocal range. It's either that or Garbage "Special". I love belting that tune.
Saturday I had regionals for volleyball. I played two new positions for my short 5'7" ass. I was a middle block (going up against girls that are like six feet tall. WTF!) and then I played a defensive specialist backrow as a libero, which I admittedly totally don't know how to spell. (Note: Volleyball players: how the hell do you spell that?) Met up with a buddy of mine at Venom afterwards, a club that I fucking hate, but I haven't seen him in a year or two, so it was good to play catch up. We dorked it out talking about video games. Go figure.
Sunday was the big event for Relay For Life, a cancer awareness society. My company donated a good chunk of product to auction for the silent auction/concert that we threw at a local venue called The Swiss. It was a great turnout! I met some really cool people and had an absolute blast. Once I start getting used to posting photos, I'll get over the laziness and share some in a future blog or something.
Monday I had another volleyball tournament, and then hung out with another buddy of mine - who ironically his ex fianc I had a fling with. Ahahahaha. It's only now that we're becoming friends, and he's such a blast. I asked him out to a movie and he totally bit. I wonder how that's going to go. Funny stuff.
Anyway, how are you guys? (PS: Sorry this blog was crazy long. I had a ton to catch up on!)
Ps: I NEED SUPPORT AT KARAOKE! COME SEE ME AT HULA HULA FRIDAY NIGHT! I'm scared shitless and need audience love!
