Saw two bands last night at the showbox: Air Traffic and Elbow. Both are UK bands, and I am already butt-crazy-in-love with Elbow, but the second I heard the lead vocalist sing for Air Traffic I went running for their cd. His range was amazing and straight-tone impressive. The kid was landing notes -- belting them even -- WITHOUT vibrato to round out the sound and keep them in tune. It was just absolutely sick. Gorgeous fucking voice. It doesn't hurt that well, you know, their from the UK, so ... that's like ready-made-cereal for a crush on my end. LOL
I went with a couple of girlfriends from volleyball, one that I have a massive crush on, who interestingly enough returns the favor secretly. (We have to be coy to keep our secret from the others on the team. It's so cute.) It was a lot of fun. I managed to charm the drinks out of a few boys, including a bartender and this super cute guy that was a-typical of my style. He was clean cut, and crisp. Well dressed, sideburns and the kind of smile that make smarter women wary because it's laced with too much charm. He was an absolute doll. But I pulled the Cinderella stunt on him and ran off into the night when it was time for my friends to go. I did slip him my number.
Lately I've been super addicted to this xbox video game. I'm a little late, considering it was released in the fall, but it's called Assasin's Creed. I had this stint where I could do nothing play Splinter Cell for hours on end and the two are very similar in a lot of ways. Assasin's Creed has this historical vantage point that makes it slightly more interesting to me, but the sneaking around as a spy/ninja/assasin genre has always been a hook line and sinker for me, so this game is definitely a winner. I plan on doing that, all day, in my last day of my four day weekend that I personally think is well deserved. Other than volleyball practice in Seattle.
It's been a nice, relaxing couple of days. But tomorrow I go back to the hell that is work and will be going back to an offer letter for another promotion within my company. It's nice to know that they think I am qualified, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it's really about what they have available in terms of resources at the moment, give recent events. I don't know if I'll do well at the job, and there are a couple higher up muckity-mucks that are under the impression that I will, based on my performance at this other location, but I'm not sure. This store is far more difficult on multiple tiers as to why.
I'll guess I'll find out. Anyway, I don't worry about that today. It's just Assasin's Creed, laundry and volleyball. Y E S!
