So this random company where a friend of mine works wants to extend me an offer next Thursday. I sent them my CV last week at the prodding of my friend.
Now, I love my job. It's great fun, the peoples are amazing and smart, the environment (in or around a major University) is great. My boss says good things about me. Pressure is relative. Stress is mostly self-imposed. I can have nearly 100% unproductive days (like today) or super rush get 20 things done days. I get to touch tons of different technologies.
The potential job is a very interesting start-up doing some hardcore linux things. Custom kernel based swarming network attached storage grid able to handle many 10's of GB of I/O per second. The technical challenge is amazing. They pay rather well. Probably I'll be offered something in the 50-60k$ range, quite a bit more then what I get. Lots of travelling may be included in the package. Stress will be constant. Hours will be long.
I frankly don't know which way to go.
We're "meeting" Thursday afternoon. We being me and the CTO.
