Work has been frustrating recently... We have a basketball league we are running because the city can't get its Rec. and Parks Dept. to do its own job. Anyway, one certain individual has been pulling all these bullshit power moves, really for no other reason than to be a giant pain in the ass. He's 35 acting like hes 10. He's frustrating those of us coordinating the league, he's frustrating the coaches, and most importantly, he's hurting the kids. The whole league is exists soley for the betterment of the kids, not so he can pretend he's Jerry West building an NBA dynasty... Then there's the Art Club, a really great program that we're having a hard time getting kids out to. The stipulations of the grant and outside factors like the 40 inches of snow we got in February, coupled with my mistakes in trying to recruit kids (this being my first time doing something like this) have derailed momentum we were attaining. Still, I think things will get better... but all in all I like my job. I'm only frustrated because for once in my life (well, for the first time since I was 17), I actually care about my job. Anyway...
The O's failed to get a power hitter like they said they would. Sometimes I hate being a die hard fan....
Musically things are going really well. After only writing about 8 songs, of which we only still play 5, in the past year and half, we've been on a pretty good streak as of late. The split CD will come out by the end of June and tour plans are looking good in August. Playing Friday at American University with my favorite local band ever the Shakedowns. I don't think I'll be able to call them local all that long. If those guys don't get somewhere, I'll loose any marginal faith I have left in the way the music (whats a less scene-politically incorrectly term than industry or business...?). Bleeder Resister is also playing that show, which makes me happy. They are the first new local band in sometime other than the Bowlcuts that has gotten me excited. What else has been going on, oh yeah, I'm still filling in on bass for DCD which is plenty o'fun. Their songs are a bit easier for me to play, so I can even be more of wrecking ball on stage. We played Pittsburgh the other night, Thursday its UTurn in DC and Sat it Meow Mix in NYC. Fun.
Grrrrr....im's have gotten me off track. Anyway...
